overview
In this video, we are going to start with the necessary accessories for installing a Security Door to an A&L OX sliding door.
As this is a genuine security door, we are using heavy-duty F Interlocks and a 25x50mm angle as the back interlock receiver. These accessories change the measurement. We also are installing a 20 by 20mm angle to improve the lock receiver security.
STEp 1 – Measure the door width
Measure the door width from inside the jamb to the stile. In this video the measurement is 880 mm. Add 50mm to accommodate the Heavy Duty F Interlock and its 25*50mm receiver angle. The OrderingPortal manufacture size is 930mm.
step 2 – Measure the drop
Measure the drop from the top U channel to the bottom track pip. In this video the measurement is 2070 mm. Deduct between 10 and 14mm to allow for the wheels in the upper channel and the sill pip track. Drop manufacture size is 2056 mm.
step 3 – measure from the outside top of the frame to the bottom
Older A&L doors do not have an adequate receiver channel for triple lock security doors. A 20 by 20 angle improves receiver jamb security.
step 4 – Make a small cut at the bottom
At the bottom of the angle you might need to make a small cut at the bottom to fit nicely within the sliding door pip track.
step 5 – Add pop rivets
It is important to note that the 20 by 20 needs to be angled outwards slightly so the security door slides next to instead of into it. Evenly spaced pop rivets on the glass door frame create small bumps producing the slight angle once it is installed.
step 6 – fix the angle
Fix the angle making sure the screws are not over the pop rivets but a little bit across to create the space we need to accommodate the security door frame and lock strikers.
step 7 – Install the door
Install the door and make sure it slides freely. Close the door and check for gaps then square the door from the inside by lifting or lowering the bottom wheels.
step 8 – Install the lock
When Installing the lock, install the cylinder first. Face the cylinder tongue towards the jamb, turn the key and then insert and tighten with the cylinder screw provided.
step 9 – install the striker
To install the striker, insert striker plates, lock the door and peel the tape off. Close the door, then unlock and open the door.
The striker plates will attach to the receiver channel in the correct position. Fix off the strikers.
step 10 – Install the back interlock receiver angle
Install the 25 by 50 back interlock receiver angle to the fixed glass panel. Check the security door to interlock clearance.
step 11 – fix the Heavy-duty F-Interlock and the bug strip
To complete the job, fix the Heavy-duty F-Interlock and the bug strip.
